Since you asked:

"Therefore, to be possess'd with double pomp, to guard a title that was rich before, to gild refined gold, to paint the lily,
to throw a perfume on the violet, to smooth the ice, or add another hue unto the rainbow, or with taper-light
to seek the beauteous eye of heaven to garnish, is wasteful and ridiculous excess."

~William Shakespeare,
ca. 1595

Yup, that's us.

Bon Fete!

Well, we had a wonderful evening last night in the cool air of the moderate summer we have been enjoying. A belated Belgian day celebration was effected, with the help of friends and family. Friends, such as Tom from Stadium Tavern, supplied a mini keg of pale ale from their brewery down south, as well as fresh mussels and french fries from the restaurant for our consumption. Sadly, Janis, Jamie and PJ were not able to attend due to previous engagements, but we had plenty of "family" about, including new members Dede and Dwight Warren, who added a dash of flavor to the celebration.

We had so much fun, and the weather was delightful...cool and crisp on the deck, owing to our wonderful south induced breeze in the evening. Dennis and Bernice joined us, as did Marilee, who TOTALLY connected with Lexie, who is preparing to undertake a semester abroad in Ireland. Marilee knows the Emerald Isle stem to stern and they will be hooking up there shortly.... Tom and Jeannie were also in attendance, aa delghtful addition....

Wonderful food, talk, and wine of course, courtesy of Mr. Sellitto and other friends....Tom from Stadium came equipped with a mini keg and pump and regaled us with stories of the pygmy goats on the property where he is living up the street, and there was much discussion on how Dede's Dwight might help him bring a certain pig down.... Our Tom was of course in charge of the fries, and did us proud, admirable dealing with the wild card of Stadium Tom's precooked Idaho spuds (yes, we're definitely getting lazy in our old age...)

Our friend "Big Ed" was in attendance, too, always a plus, with his dry and pithy repartee.....last year's highlights include our neighbors Lou and Retha remarking on the state of property taxes and writing those checks to that "son-of-a-bitch Moorlach," not know that they were sitting next to his brother! It WAS a moment, friends, trust me...!

"Le Tony" put in an appearance, too, which was delightful in and of itself. I understand I owe him a phone call about something ebay related...Monday morning will be early enough! I should explain myself....in the British series, "A Year in Provence," there is a pesky interloper named Tony, that they refer to as "Le Tony," and our neighbor as been reduced to the same status. They are dear to us, but we love patching them into the same vernacular.....

Well friends, today has been a wonderfuly lazy day...something I do not usually allow myself. Throw your heads back, howl and enjoy it with me. We have foregone traditional meals today, noshing on cut vegetables and cheese today, and plan to wind it up with a bowl of ice cream, berries, and other wonders before the day ends. Cheers from here, Nancy

It was more fun than even I expected, thanks for welcoming us into the inner circle. The mussels and fries were fabulous, as was the company. My head this morning was a sure sign of all the festivity last night.

Thanks, sweet friend, and to the Mr as well!
