Since you asked:

"Therefore, to be possess'd with double pomp, to guard a title that was rich before, to gild refined gold, to paint the lily,
to throw a perfume on the violet, to smooth the ice, or add another hue unto the rainbow, or with taper-light
to seek the beauteous eye of heaven to garnish, is wasteful and ridiculous excess."

~William Shakespeare,
ca. 1595

First Post!

For someone who works all day, nearly every day at a computer, I am finding myself very inept at this whole blog thing. Not the blah, blah, blah thing, the making of the blog thing. I have got a whole different set of tools in my bag that have nothing to do with this end of the equation, I guess. Graphic design has left me ill prepared, and the graphic interface I so blithely traverse on my Mac at work has nothing to do with templates and settings. I am used to the "tangible" objects and workplace of the Adobe products, and find myself at a complete loss. Thus, the desert that is my little blog...

Well nothing must be done for it but to dive in! I see something in the toolbar that looks suspiciously like a picture, so here goes:

OMG! It worked! This is a favorite necklace I made a while back that has already found its way into the hands of another person who loved it. This is the first in a series of pieces to be constructed of vintage findings with focals in Cannetini silver. I have a little hoard of it in my metals drawer that I have set aside for the time when I have a little extra creativity time. The holidays are certainly not that time!

I had a lovely visit yesterday from Dede Warren, who spent the whole day with me. Wendy was also in for a spell, and we all puttered with jewelry related items, and we got to pay through Dede's wonderful box of odds and ends. Isn't it funny how we all love that stuff? It must be all those times we played in our mom's jewelry drawers, or perhaps some genetically coded thing. I am hoping to hook up with Dede at the next flea in Long Beach, as she is so much fun. I felt connected to her immediately! Lucky girl, she is going to Art Nest in Utah and taking a class from Amy Hanna, who visits sometimes at the shop, and who is a wonderfully talented designer of many things, including very beautiful and eclectic jewelry.

Well, time to go upstairs and turn on the kettle and let out the tiny creatures. Here is a pic of 'Tini sporting her holiday headgear. Probably not very happy about it, but who could resist!

I love it here as well as in your treasure trove shoppe. Thanks for having me and sharing so freely all you know that I have yet to learn. The blog looks great but if you ever need a hand, just holla!

Be well and have a merry, merry,
Dede
