Since you asked:

"Therefore, to be possess'd with double pomp, to guard a title that was rich before, to gild refined gold, to paint the lily,
to throw a perfume on the violet, to smooth the ice, or add another hue unto the rainbow, or with taper-light
to seek the beauteous eye of heaven to garnish, is wasteful and ridiculous excess."

~William Shakespeare,
ca. 1595

Yup, that's us.

A soulful bowl...

This is what is anchoring our days now...big bowls of shiitake broth with all sorts of good things swimming around in it. This was dinner the other night, which included buckwheat soba, seared tofu, snow peas, carrots, napa cabbage, mushrooms and lots of fresh scallions. Since we developed the habit of having miso soup for breakfast several mornings a week when we were eating macrobiotically, now we are alternating that with these lovely bowls of ginger scented stock and whatever fresh vegetables are in the fridge. I'll enjoy this as long as our cool spring weather lets me...
