Since you asked:

"Therefore, to be possess'd with double pomp, to guard a title that was rich before, to gild refined gold, to paint the lily,
to throw a perfume on the violet, to smooth the ice, or add another hue unto the rainbow, or with taper-light
to seek the beauteous eye of heaven to garnish, is wasteful and ridiculous excess."

~William Shakespeare,
ca. 1595

Yup, that's us.

Catching up to life...

It has been a busy week or so, filled with many good things to be thankful for. I have such a loving, supportive family that is truly one of the greatest gifts I have. I love that my sister, my mom and I all live so close to each other...only minutes away. I have the extravagance of seeing them weekly, and I love Friday mornings when my sister brings my mom to the salon just two doors down from the shop for her hair appointment, and we can hang out for a little while and catch each other up on what's been going on.

My daughter Nathalie is home from college, and even though it meant giving up my studio downstairs so she could have a new bedroom (we did, after all, steal hers and make it into our office when she left!), but it is so worth it to have her home again. We drove downtown this morning and she opened the store for me, and will do so each Sunday now, from 10:00~3:00. She so gets what I do and what all that stuff means to me and a lot of other people, so I feel my little shop is in the very best of hands with her at the helm. She is also going to open the store for me on Tuesdays, so you'll all have a chance to meet her if you stop in on one of those days.

Janis' class yesterday was so fun; there is nothing like the chatter and laughter of a table full of women with busy hands and happy hearts. Outside, they were setting up for a wedding, and before I left last night they had started, and it all began with a piper in full regalia, which was followed by one of the ushers crooning an Elvis ballad. There were many small dogs in attendance, and one of the guests came in tried on hat after hat, and left with at least seven of them and an antique lace shawl, all of which she looked stunning in. We tucked a little Victorian sewing basket into her bag before she left, too; she told me she had just cut out a picture of one from a magazine and pinned it up in her room as a wish, and couldn't believe she found one just like it.

Well, I've labored over this little post too long, patching in projects and organizing some space to work in the dining room, my new "studio." I'll have to post some pictures of the new space when I get it done, and we can all have a good laugh over my impromptu jewelry studio! Hugs to all, and hope you are having a wonderful Sunday afternoon...
